More Difficulties In Vietnam

The heavy rain is not the only obstacle the Luxembourgish delegation has to overcome during their state visit to Vietnam. Luxembourg's Minister for the Economy and Foreign Trade, Guillaume's usual partner in crime (hey, they even call themselves that) on Economic Missions, apparently is about to retire. After the news leeked, he cut the visit short and flew back to the Grand Duchy.

Even though the Grand Duke and his delegation were not able to sleep in their planned hotel because it was not accessible due to the floods, they got to catch up on the Citadel of the Nguyen emperors, also known as the Forbidden City, they were already supposed to visit yesterday.

Afterwards they went on to visit the National School of Tourism; being a twinned school of the School of Hotel Management in Diekirch, ten selected students go to the Grand Duchy every year to improve their skills. Conveniently, they also had lunch at the school.

In the afternoon, the Grand Duke visited an orphanage for young girls led by the Congrégation des Soeurs de Saint-Paul de Chartres who take care of girls who have been abandoned by their parents. They are supported financially by the bureau of cooperation of the Luxembourgish ambassy.

Grand Duke Henri and the delegation have already made their way to Ho Chi Minh City for the last day of the state visit. Surpising changes of plans can't be ruled out due to the departure of Minister Krecké. For now, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn will take over Krecké's responsibilities in Vietnam.
